What's So Good About Soy

Soy is one of natures wonder foods as it contains isoflavones.

Soy helps to drop cholesterol (LDL the bad cholesterol.) This can be achieved by eating 20-28 grams of soy or tofu a day, or taking it in capsule form.

Soy is a great protein source that can be used to help lose weight.

Do Vitamins Work?

Vitamins and minerals are the basis of natural supplementation. They function in the body as components in enzymes or coenzymes. Enzymes are molecules that speed up chemical reactions necessary for bodily functions. Coenzymes are molecules that help enzymes in their chemical reactions. A key role in the supplementation of vitamins and minerals is learning how to supply the necessary support or nutrients that allow enzymes to do their job optimally. For example, we can't convert our food into energy without them. We can't burn fat and we can't contract a muscle or conduct nerve impulses without them. Our entire body runs on vitamins and minerals. Due to depleted soils, higher oxidations, stress, pollution and poor diets, we can no longer get all the vitamins required by our body, so we must supplement.

What About My Kids?

People often neglect vitamins and mineral supplementation in children, assuming that they get enough in their diet. How many children do you know consume fresh fruits, vegetables, and low fat protein course 3 times a day? These are the foods that contain the nutrients our body needs. Not bread, rice, pasta and candy, a child's usual diet. Presently 1/3 of children in North America are overweight and close to 1/4 are diabetic, which is all due to poor diets. As a child, it is important to maintain sound nutrition and natural supplementation. They are setting the biochemical groundwork for the rest of their life. Their bones, muscles and organs are growing to their final size and shape. Don't deprive them of what they need. If you set a child up with good habits, they are more likely to carry them through as an adult. Just because a child heals quickly, has high energy, or can eat a large plate of pasta today, does not mean they are meeting their nutritional needs. If anything, due to the higher rate of growth and cellular turnover, they require more nutrients per kilogram of body weight, that an adults does (who simply needs to maintain - not grow.)
