Organic Foods Are those a good thing?
With the increase in industrialization, there has been a large increase in the use of chemical and hormones in our food. Pesticides may decrease labor costs but our health is put at risk. More that 50 million kg of pesticides are used per year in Canada and have been shown to decrease fertility, testicular growth, increase birth defects and alter chromosomes. They have also been shown to increase attention deficit disorder in children with high exposure (like farmers children).
Pesticides break down into estrogen. This has caused precocious puberty (early onset puberty.) The average age of puberty in girls used to be 13-15. Now it is 8-11, and girls as young as 4 are starting to show breast development. Young boys are also developing breasts due to these estrogens.
Animal products are also injected with growth hormone to make them grow faster or produce milk and eggs more quickly. However, this will mimic growth hormone in our bodies. When growth hormone levels rise above normal, they have been shown to stimulate the growth of cancerous cells.
As most people do not monitor their growth hormone levels, they have no idea how they may be artificially raising them, and putting themselves at risk.
